I did my undergrad in math and engineering, mostly theoretical mechanics. But then I switched to philosophy of physics and logic for my M.A. and Ph.D. I'm currently teaching in the Philosophy department at the University of British Columbia. My main publication is a technical monograph about physical probability, published by the University of Toronto Press.

Personal 9/11 Statement:
|
As I teach courses on scientific reasoning, I'm always on the lookout for good examples of bad science, and I thought the 9/11 conspiracy theories would provide some material. I was shocked to find many good arguments among the bad ones. In particular, arguments that the global "collapse" was not powered by gravity alone seem virtually conclusive. The way NIST has ignored this issue (or said silly things about it) helps to support the conclusion.
